Eight years ago today, a crazed Muslim opened fire on an Orlando nightclub, killing 49 people. “I should have been number 50,” says Luis Ruiz, whose life was miraculously saved by a mystery man who told him, “We have to pray.”
That moment changed Luis’ life. Now the man once left for dead says, “There is revival in the LGBTQ community.” Luis is leading the charge to rescue others from this lifestyle. But a growing movement is seeking to BAN Luis and others from this important ministry. Liberty Counsel is fighting to protect him and others who dare preach the gospel. Read on. — Mat
Eight years ago today, in the wee hours of the morning on June 12, Luis Ruiz was partying with friends at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Shortly after the bartenders yelled “last call for alcohol,” Luis heard people screaming “Get out, get out!”
Luis remembers his friends joking that the bar bouncers must really want to go home because patrons were being kicked out early. But when the bumping bass of the dance music screeched to a halt, Luis heard gunshots. The smell of gunpowder seared his nostrils, and he saw bodies collapsing to the floor in pools of blood. Luis and his friends ran for the nearest exit, but it was blocked by a locked gate.
Luis kicked with all his might to break down the gate. Dozens escaped, but Luis’ foot became entangled in the bent metal. Stuck, he collapsed to the floor as desperate people stampeded over him to escape being shot like ducks in a barrel.
“I fell on the floor and heard people screaming,” Luis says. “Everybody ended up trampling over me. I was bruised and in pain. I couldn’t get up.”
The gunshots were getting closer, and Luis feared he would be next.
“I called my mom and told her, ‘I love you guys. I’m sorry,” he says. “She could hear the gunshots and she flipped out. I could hear her tell my family, ’They’re going to kill my son.’” The call died, and what little hope Luis had died with it.
But then a miracle happened. “This guy comes to me out of nowhere. He picked me up and took me all way down to the 7-11 across the street,” Ruiz recalled. “He told me, ‘We have to pray.’”
Luis joined him in prayer before the mysterious man disappeared. “He was my hero. I would have been stuck there.” Luis never saw him again.
That man didn’t just save Luis’ life — he saved his soul.
Don’t let the LGBTQ mafia SILENCE “ex-gays” like Luis Ruiz!
After the shooting, Luis tried to cover the pain and horror of what he experienced with alcohol. But he began to feel God tugging on his heart, saying, "I’m giving you another chance."
“I should have been number 50! I survived because I believe God still had a purpose for me,” says Luis, who has left the homosexual lifestyle. “My life really did change after Pulse. I am a different person now. Life is really a blessing.”
“Going through old pictures of the night of Pulse, I remember my struggles of perversion, heavy drinking to drown out everything and having promiscuous sex that led to HIV,” Luis says.
“The enemy had its grip, and now God has taken me from that moment and has given me Christ Jesus. I’ve grown to know His love in a deeper level. Two out of the 49 were my close friends and are no longer with us. They lost their life that night. I should have been number 50 but now I have the chance to live in relationship and not religion — not just loving Christ but being in love with Christ and sharing His love. I know who I am, and I am not defined with who the enemy says I use to be — but who Christ Jesus says I am.”
Luis has teamed up with another Pulse victim, Angel Colon, who also left the LGBTQ lifestyle after being rescued that fateful night. The two teamed up to co-found an organization called Fearless Identity to share their testimony in churches and schools, helping people find the truth. I had the honor of interviewing these redeemed men on our Freedom Alive! television program.
The hope that these young men offer to the world is incredible! But over 100 cities and states have BANNED the Bible-based Christian counseling that helps rescue men like Luis and Angel from homosexuality.
Liberty Counsel has fought hard to overturn 23 bans on counseling that tells the TRUTH about gender dysphoria and God’s design for human sexuality. But 87 bans remain in place across the country.
To add insult to injury, the LGBTQ mafia is now pressuring Congress to silence professional Christian change counseling on the federal level. HR 15, the so-called “Equality Act” seeks to federally ban Christian change counseling. The “Equality Act” also punishes anyone who dares stand on the side of biological science, or who proclaims God’s perfect design for sexuality and humanity.
Unless we raise a righteous roar that cannot be ignored, the LGBTQ agenda might win this fight to silence Christians, scientists, counselors, and medical practitioners from telling the truth about gender-bending lies and God’s perfect human design.
